About Us

Why are we  doing this?

  1. (1)We love to travel.  Having met on a camping trip in Iceland 32 years ago, it defines our relationship.

  2. (2)The time is ripe. With Bernd just retired and both of us in good-health, we had come to the conclusion: if not now, when?

  3. (3)Our children have also moved on.  Our son Sergio is a US Marine and lives in Okinawa, Japan.  Elsita, our daughter, will soon start graduate studies in Desert Ecology in Israel.  Our local family -- the 14 Namibian students we have helped support on and off for the past 6 years (see below) -- have mostly graduated from the University or soon will...

  4. (4)It’s good transitionAfter living for 13 years in Namibia, we are thinking of returning to the USA for our “next phase of life.”  This may well be our circuitous route home.
